I called Sim Fubara and Nyesom Wike ” band of thieves” early this year in one of my write ups on the political goings on in Rivers state since 2023. Since then, the velocity of the show of shame has increased in volume and size. Yes, they are band of thieves because they agreed in cahoot to share Rivers state commonwealth and patrimony amongst both of them alone without involving other stakeholders. Their illegitimate agreement has become intractable in implementation, and the duo are dancing naked in the market. However, today, the ding dong is no longer between Wike and Fubara, but their legion of supporters are involved.
Chief Nyesom Wike is not my friend in any way. I don’t have any stretch of admiration or sympathy for his monkey politics. I even disdain him for the wholesale massacre of his kit and kin brothers in Obigbo years back as Governor of Rivers state. About three hundred Igbos lost their lives in an unwarranted blockade of Obigbo from all points of entrance and exit for three weeks. People drank their urine and ate their deafecations. Both Wike and Fubara were sleeping on the same political bed when that act of genocide was unleashed on harmeless Igbos. Fubara did not blink an eye. As far as the governorship mantle was given to him, anything is good done by the master. Nyesom and Fubara were somehow trying to prove to the world that they were not Igbo. So what, if they are Igbo?
Anyway, Nyesom Wike put Sim Fubara, another Igbo from Opobo Nkoro, in Bonny LGA of the state as Governor to succeed him. Both of them share very poignant similarities in hate and denials. They are refusiniks! They are xenophobics. Those who deny their ancestry. They are worse than terrorists. So says the Russians when they invented the word Refusiniks in describing Russian Jews who denied their Hebrew origin for survival in the cold regions of Russia pre- holocaust.
Fubara is crying wolf currently. The blood of the harmless people they wiped out have come to haunt the perpetrators. No sin will go unpunished. So says the holy book, the Bible. To Fubara and his supporters, the Appeal court judgement that resonated in the wake of their victory dance over their phyric success in their LGA elections was a judicial terror. It cut short their dance. The judgement pointedly asked the Rivers protégé Governor to go back and re-present the 2024 state budget to the House of Assembly under Amhawule’s Speakership. That is clearly putting Fubara’s neck in the hang man’s nooze.
This judgement stridently tells Fubara to climb down from whatever horse he is mounted and exit. One of his spin doctors and strategy, strong person, says the last have not been heard. That there is a case in the Appeal court on whether the twenty- three RSHA members duely resigned from the PDP and joined the APC. The matter is clear. The party rules and constitution are evident. One obtains his membership of a political party by registering in his ward. To resign, one should go to his ward office to resign to his ward chairman and not to a court affidavit or house of assembly gallery.
Simplicita!
Therefore, the Amhawule men did not resign since they only resigned on television colloquilly in the gallery of the RSHA. To continue to think that the next court case will help their matter is dreamlike conjecture. The days of Fubara’s swallowing of his God father’s conditions are nigh and imminent. It is as bad as that. The judicial upper cut has been placed, and Fubara has to kiss the canvas. Nothing can hold him again but to go back to the Tinubu tripartite agreement and manage the miserable political life until his four years tenure expires.
Exit, Sim Fubara, Exit!
